It’s already March!  Winter is almost over and for some areas of the globe our fans are seeing Spring.  At Wick-edly Sent Soap and Candle Company a lot is happening (hence the lack of posts from our blog), and we are all gearing up.  For those who haven’t heard, we lost a member of our family.  Madison, our dog who was 15 years old passed away.  It was hard on us, staff, and all our friends and customers.  But he was an old happy dog, and we believe he is in no more pain, and in a  better place.

At the store we are seeing an increase of people bringing back their empty candle jars.  In case people didn’t know, we recycle them, and offer a discount if you replace it and buy another soy candle.  It’s amazing how many jars people bring in at a time!  Recycling is part of our effort of Going Green.  For more info on what else we do, and some tips on how easy it can be for you visit our Wick-edly Sent Goes Green Page.

What’s New: New Effusion Lamps and Scents!

We are currently updating our website with a powerful new theme, which is really easy to update. Other new features are the blog, which is now within the site, and seamless with the site now. We no longer have a different looking blog.

A new shopping cart is in place, with great features such as a star rating system (vote for your favorites). Great photos with a snazzy zoom feature.  Don’t remember what’s in your cart?  Don’t worry, to the right is your shopping cart with total and brief descriptions.  Also, when placing orders, you can now place the order and call us by phone with your credit card. We’ve had several people do this because they don’t like placing their credit card numbers online.

We still feature online ordering with credit cards and Paypal, which is new. Just click on one button and decide if you are paying with Paypal or with your own credit card. Simple.

Aesthetically, the site design is crisp, depending on your browser. The top banner will be rotating (we have one pic now but that will change). The widgets (side areas) has our Facebook updates, twitter updates, and an entry form for the mailing list (new).

Upcoming: We will be updating more products into the shopping cart system, more pages (such as our going green page, how we give back, and we won’t forget our link partners.

This weekend is busy in Canandaigua, we have the annual Holiday Art Walk this Friday, from 2 pm to 8 pm, where 14 galleries, stores, and boutiques have art and music, including community caroling.

Some of the scheduled artists and events include: Acrylic painter Renee Combs and Landscape photographer Maria Johnson at Artiques Heirlooms and Art, 37 South Main Street. Artist Nicole Yacano from TRU jewelry will be present, plus a trunk show at JOOLZ 237 South Main Street. Book signing of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland held by artist Nancy Wiley Studio, 206 Main Street. Celtic musicians Barbara Jablonski and Kathleen Cappon will play Christmas music favorites with special instruments such as hammered dulcimer, guitar, harp, and button accordions 4-6 pm at Pat Rini Rohrer Gallery, 71 South Main Street. Artist Karen Miller, jeweler Andrea Taft and pianist Bryan Babcock will feature at Wick-edly Sent Soap and Scented Candles Company, 94 South Main Street. Plus bell ringers from Saint Mary’s will play at Finger Lakes Gallery and Frame, 36 South Main Street.

A community caroling event led by Connie Fredericks Malone will close the busy day at All Things Art, 65 South Main Street at 8pm, plus art goers can also enter to win a $1000 Shopping Spree from Downtown Merchants.
