Have you ever driven past some of Canandaigua’s beautiful historic sites and thought, “I should go there some time”?  Maybe you’ve even thought, “Canandaigua has such gorgeous architecture…I wish I knew more about that building.”

A new program called “Podcast2thepast,” launched by our own Finger Lakes Visitors Connection in collaboration with the Steuben County Tourism Bureau, showcases several of Canandaigua’s treasures in short, 2-3 minute podcasts.   A podcast is a pre-recorded audio program that’s posted to a website and is made available for easy download.

Canandaigua’s treasures that are currently showcased on Podcast2thepast are:

The podcasts also feature other fascinating destinations of historical and architectural interest in Ontario and Steuben Counties such as several wineries, the town of Clifton Springs, Corning’s Gaffer District and more.

One of the innovative features about this program is that the podcasts also “package” a number of different attractions into offerings that would be of interest to visitors, such as the “Stretch Yourself Getaway Experience” that highlights Sonnenberg Gardens, Granger Museum, Historic Clifton Springs and Bully Hill Vineyards.  This will encourage more visitors to take in multiple attractions.

Visit the Podcast2thePast website for an interesting photo gallery with some great historic photos, and a calendar of events.

So whether you’re looking for someplace interesting to visit, or just trying to bone up on your history, check out Podcast2thePast .

Podcast2thepast was underwritten in part by an Explore New York grant from the NYS Division of Tourism.
